'Italia'
De foto's uit de 'Italia' reeks werden in mei 2003 in Zuid-Italië genomen
voor Europalia Italia. Een selectie werd reeds tentoongesteld bij SD Worx
Gallery te Antwerpen en vanaf juni 2005 zal het gehele werk in het kader van
het Fotografiecircuit 2005 te zien zijn.
De reeks visualiseert mijn persoonlijke gevoelens van de Zuid-Italiaanse levenswijze.
Een leven dat zich vooral buiten afspeelt, waar zien en gezien worden wel
het motto lijkt, een spel dat door de lokale bevolking op magnifieke wijze
wordt gespeeld. De provincie Bari en de stad Napels vormden het idyllische
decor, de Italiaanse personages de perfecte acteurs. Het is alsof een waar
theaterspel zich voltrekt en je een andere tijd binnenstapt.
The pictures of
the 'Italia' series were taken in Southern Italy in May 2003 for Europalia
Italia. A selection has already been exhibited at SD Worx Gallery in Antwerp
and the whole series can be enjoyed at the Photography Circuit 2005.
The work shows my personal impressions of the South Italian lifestyle, a life
that takes particularly place outdoors, a game of 'to see' and 'been seen'
that is magnificently played by its locals. The province of Bari and the city
of Naples are the idyllic setting, the Italians the perfect actors that give
you the idea you are part of a play and sent to another time.
